Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in conjunction with four other ministries, published the list of Smart PV Typical Cases, with the CHINT New Energy Haining Smart PV-Storage Integrated Demonstration Project successfully selected. The project integrates four major components: a 5.97MW PV power station, a 10MW/20MWh energy storage system, a smart energy management platform, and a virtual power plant, achieving a complete closed loop from green power generation to intelligent regulation and market-oriented power trading.
The project adopts a "self-generation and self-consumption with surplus power sold to the grid" model, integrating storage peak shaving and virtual power plant market trading functions. The PV station generates approximately 5.2 million kWh annually, with a self-consumption rate exceeding 95%, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 8,275 tons per year. The energy storage system uses a "two charges, two discharges" strategy to effectively reduce peak electricity loads. The smart energy management platform uses IoT technology to interconnect equipment and leverages AI algorithms for real-time energy dispatch optimization.
Industry experts note that this project represents the highest technical and application standards in China's domestic smart PV sector and offers replicable demonstration value nationwide. The integration of PV-storage with virtual power plants provides a replicable solution for the low-carbon transformation of industrial parks and manufacturing bases, and is expected to drive green, low-carbon, and smart transformation across more industrial and commercial scenarios.
Additionally, multiple companies have been active in the energy storage sector recently. Jinko Solar successfully delivered a 2.15MWh industrial and commercial energy storage project in Australia, China Energy Engineering signed a 235MW PV + 581MWh storage off-grid power station project in the DRC, and SKYWORTH PV's 300MW/600MWh energy storage power station project in Jinzhong Development Zone recently broke ground. These projects span Australia, Africa, Europe, and the domestic market, reflecting that the global energy storage market is entering a phase of accelerated expansion.
